Everyday Spaces

Alongside spaces designed for study and work, the University has also paid attention to places that mark the ordinary rhythm of university life: those for pausing, refreshment and personal care.
These environments have a direct impact on the experience of those who live on campus, especially for those who spend many hours there each day, for commuting students, international students, or those in more vulnerable situations.
Taking care of these spaces means recognizing fundamental needs that are often taken for granted and helps reduce inequalities that can limit full and dignified participation in university life. It also means promoting a culture of the common good, in which shared environments express care, respect and responsibility towards everyone in the University community.
The quality of these places is therefore a concrete indicator of the University’s ability to translate the values of inclusion, equity and hospitality into everyday practices.
Common Room
The Common Room is conceived as an intermediate environment between the operational workspace and the domestic sphere, designed to facilitate moments of refreshment while also promoting informal exchange. The University supports the development of these areas dedicated to meeting and refreshment across its central and satellite locations through an ongoing call.
View the call and find out how to propose a room or facility for use as a 'Common Room'.
Restrooms
Restrooms are essential spaces in university life and represent a concrete indicator of the attention the University gives to inclusion, well-being and the dignity of individuals.
In order to meet the needs of the community and promote a culture of care and shared responsibility, the University has developed a campaign that includes a coordinated set of actions, from gender-neutral bathrooms to menstrual health products, from the dissemination of contacts for anti-violence services to raising awareness about respect for shared spaces.
Breastfeeding spaces and changing tables
The University has provided changing tables and dedicated breastfeeding spaces, initiatives designed for the student and staff community as well as for visitors, in recognition of parenthood as part of community life. Following a needs assessment, the initiative will be extended to other locations.
The locations of the restrooms where the changing tables are installed are as follows:
- former Economics building, Via dell’Artigliere 19, floor -1, building no. 21, room S.20 (corridor separating classrooms A and B);
- Letters building, Via San Francesco 22, ground floor, building no. 7, room T.01b;
- Ca' Vignal - Piramide building, Strada le Grazie 15, ground floor, building no. 64, room T.03 (near the staircase leading to the bar).
Breastfeeding spaces:
- Palazzo Giuliari (Rectorate headquarters), in Via dell'Artigliere 8, ground floor
