Internationalization Calls for funding

The internationalisation of teaching and research, together with international development cooperation, are strategic priorities of the University of Verona.

Through dedicated funding programmes, the University supports initiatives aimed at establishing new international educational and scientific cooperation agreements, promoting the international mobility of academic staff, hosting Visiting Scholars, Researchers and Professors from foreign universities and research centres, and fostering mobility activities within the framework of international development cooperation.

Each year, the University publishes its Internationalisation Programme (PIA – Programma di Internazionalizzazione di Ateneo), which funds incoming and outgoing international mobility projects through several funding schemes, including:

• Visiting Calls
• Outgoing mobility for academic staff and researchers
• Outgoing mobility for Research Fellows, Research Associates, Postdoctoral Researchers and Research Contract Holders

As part of its international development cooperation activities, the University also annually launches the Mo.Co.Svi Call – Mobility for International Development Cooperation, which promotes incoming and outgoing mobility to and from institutions located in developing countries. The programme aims to support scientific and educational cooperation projects that contribute to the sustainable development goals outlined in the United Nations 2030 Agenda, including the reduction of inequalities.

The call provides funding for the following categories:

• Category A: Visiting Researchers/Professors (incoming mobility)
• Category B: Academic Staff and Researchers (outgoing mobility)
• Category C: Postdoctoral Researchers, Research Contract holders and Medical Residents (outgoing mobility)

Funding for the International Mobility of Medical Residents

The University of Verona encourages the international mobility of its medical residents by supporting study and training periods at foreign institutions.

International mobility opportunities for medical residents are funded through dedicated financial resources allocated and managed directly by the departments associated with the respective Specialisation Schools.

Mobility periods must be continuous and last for a minimum of one month. Funding may be requested and awarded for a maximum period of three months. Residents may choose to remain abroad for a longer period; however, funding will only cover the approved duration.

Financial support is administered by the departments responsible for the relevant Specialisation Schools.
