Multilingualism and Intertextual Reading in Medieval Manuscript Miscellanies

What do the contents of a medieval miscellany tell us about its users and the dynamics between works, genres and languages? To what extent does the study of multi-text manuscripts contribute towards a better understanding of reading practices in medieval Europe across linguistic boundaries? These and other related questions will be addressed in this seminar, in which examples from the Germanic world will be illustrated.
