Starting from the general biology of the stress response, and the prominent role of cortisol and inflammation, Professor Pariante will discuss the evidence that these same biological mechanisms are operating in the programming of baby’s development under condition of maternal stress, and thus in the transmission of the risk of psychopathology from one generation to the next
