Following the Ministerial Decree of 10 settembre 2010, No. 249, the Tirocinio Formativo Attivo (TFA) teacher certification course is a 1-year programme to prepare future secondary school teachers at either upper or lower level.

Those who pass the final exam at the end of the TFA will gain a nationally-recognised teaching qualification for a specific subject area and type of school.

Entry to the TFA course is limited in number. To enrol, candidates must first pass a competitive exam in their subject area.

For the 2014-2015 academic year, the University of Verona will activate following subject areas: A017, A019, A029, A030, A042, A052, A245, A345, A445, A545. Verona will also activate subject areas A048 and A059 in conjunction with the University of Padova and subject areas A043 and A050 in conjunction with Padova and Ca’ Foscari in Venice.

The university TFA service, which also has a reception desk, deals with establishing and activating courses, managing admission exams, managing student pathways from enrolment to graduation, coordinating lessons and providing all the information necessary to gain this secondary school teaching qualification.
